Definition of a Minor in Child Endangerment Cases
An individual “commits the crime of endangering the welfare of a
minor in the first degree if the person transports a child in a motor
vehicle, aircraft, or watercraft while impaired,” according to AK
ST Sec. 11.51.100. In these scenarios, a minor is considered to be under
the age of 16.
Penalties for DUI with Child Endangerment
DUI penalties will largely depend on whether or not the individual has
had a previous (or several previous) convictions in the prior 15 years.
These are not the only penalties that a convicted individual will face,
however. Further consequences may include higher insurance rates, strained
personal and professional relationships, and more.
The minimum penalties for a felony DUI conviction include:
-
Jail Time: 120 days
-
Fines: $10,000
-
Driver’s License Revocation: Lifetime
